The Winery is the first building in Austria built from Hemp & Lime. The Material has a very special performance as it carbonizes over time with the result of a negative(!) CO2 footprint. The material can be applied similar to rammed earth but without the need for heavy force. It is lightweight, easy to apply on site, allows for a monolithic wall construction, is permeable for vapour diffusion and can easily be combined with a wooden subconstruction..
The volumetric concept combines a very functional wine production hall with an exclusive private apartment on top. The duality of those functional differences is reflected in the architectural distinction with an open production box in the ground and a soft living body floating on top.
