The extension building for the Grafenegg concert hall hosts the back of house and rehearsal spaces and seamlessly integrates in the historic parkway with a one meter thick hornbeam topiary skin. This innovative facade typology does not require any watering system, acts as a passive cooling device for the building in the summertime and integrates a biodiverse habitat into the architectural skin. The living architecture concept completely changes the appearance of buildings over the seasons and performs as a blending sculpture in the castle garden.
